CHOOSING CABINETRY

Cabinet construction, hardware & storage

What the detail hides

Hinges, drawer slides and the box construction are what make cabinetry feel solid years later, not just on day one.

1 · Box construction

Framed or frameless, and the material of the box, decide rigidity and how the doors sit over time.

2 · Hardware

Premium hinges and drawer slides support consistent movement and long-term alignment. Confirm the selected hardware in the approved specification.

3 · Storage logic

Drawers versus doors, pull-outs and dividers decide whether the space is actually usable.

4 · Finish durability

Kitchen and bath cabinetry take abuse. The finish that survives a wet cloth matters more than the sheen.

COUNTERTOP TRADE-OFFS

Quartz and natural stone

Countertops are a daily-touch surface with real trade-offs. Engineered quartz offers consistency and low maintenance; natural stone offers depth and variation but needs more care. The right pick depends on how the kitchen is used, not on which is fashionable.

Pattern and edge profile matter more than the brand. A calm, continuous pattern reads as higher quality than a busy one, and a simple edge is easier to live with than an elaborate one.

FLOORING THAT LASTS

A coordinated palette for open-plan living

In open-plan homes, the floor you choose runs through living, kitchen and often beyond. Continuity makes the space feel larger and calmer, while a hard break between rooms reads as a patchwork. Durability under foot traffic and water at entries and in wet rooms is the practical test, not the showroom sample.

Cabinetry and other long-lead selections affect the project schedule. Confirming them before demolition helps reduce avoidable procurement delays. See how the six-stage process sequences selections. Where materials and cabinetry are supplied directly, confirming the specification early helps coordinate production, delivery and installation.

FAQ

Cabinetry & finish FAQs

Should I spend more on cabinets or countertops?

Cabinetry is the bigger, harder-to-change item, so it deserves the budget first. Countertops are easier to upgrade later than cabinetry is to rebuild.

Framed or frameless cabinets?

Both are sound. Frameless gives a cleaner, more contemporary look and slightly more access; framed is traditional and forgiving. The construction quality matters more than the style.

Does the hardware really matter?

Yes. Hinges and slides are what you feel every day, and poor ones are the first thing to fail. Specifying them well is inexpensive and noticeable for years.

When should I choose finishes?

Before demolition. Cabinetry and other long-lead items set the schedule, so deciding early is what prevents the site from waiting on selections.

What should I keep flexible?

Paint, backsplash tile and light fittings should be coordinated with approved cabinet, countertop and flooring samples. Flexibility in the finish palette does not change our premium material and craftsmanship standard.
